College should prepare you for more than the first job you take. It should help you think clearly, communicate effectively, make sound judgments, understand people and the world around you, and keep learning as that world changes.
That is the idea behind AdvantaGE.
Your major gives you depth in a field. AdvantaGE adds breadth—the knowledge, perspectives, and ways of thinking that help you connect ideas, approach unfamiliar problems, work with others, and adapt when the answers are not obvious.
These are not simply skills for a résumé. They are capabilities you carry with you across careers, communities, and a lifetime of change.
What will your AdvantaGE help you do?
Communicate with purpose. Express ideas clearly in writing, conversation, and presentation—and understand how audience and context shape communication.
Think critically and exercise judgment. Evaluate evidence, question assumptions, consider different perspectives, and make thoughtful decisions when the answer is not obvious.
Understand the world from more than one angle. Explore human experience, society, science, quantitative reasoning, and creative expression—and learn to connect ideas across them.
Create, collaborate, and solve problems. Bring new ideas to unfamiliar challenges and work effectively with people whose knowledge, experiences, and perspectives differ from your own.
Keep learning as the world changes. Build the curiosity, adaptability, and discernment to navigate new technologies, changing careers, and questions we cannot yet anticipate.

Foundations strengthen capabilities you will use throughout your education: written communication, oral communication, and quantitative reasoning.
Domains invite you to explore different ways of understanding and engaging with the world through Creative Expression, Humanities, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences.
Together, they help you see connections across fields—and use what you learn in one context to think more effectively in another.
